ÇA Association (ça can mean either this, that, or it) is a choreographic company directed by Hervé Diasnas. ÇA was born in the Paris region in 1982. Its aim is to produce and diffuse choreographic works by Hervé Diasnas, or by Hervé Diasnas in partnership with other artists, while collaborating with theatres and other venues, and with other cultural organizations. ÇA Association is also involved in increasing public awareness of the choreographic art and in providing tuition, with workshops given either by the choreographer himself, or by other members of the company.

Diasnas made his first dance pieces, The Naï impact came in 1984... Naï ou Cristal qui songea solo he presented at Théâtre de la Ville, Paris. (The First Silence), a puppetry-dance duet, and Uoriginal universe. He has been moving towards group pieces since

In 1990 Diasnas met both Butô, through Carlotta Ikeda, and juggling, through Jérôme Thomas and others. These encounters were to lead to journée blancheshow,

In May 2000, Diasnas conceived and directed Le tabloïd des anges, (Angel Tabloid) at the Manège theatre in Reims, working in collaboration with the sculptor and visual artist, Christian Lapie. The piece was to be presented several months later at the 2000 Avignon Festival, and then several times a day in such State-run theatres as l'Apostrophe in Cergy-Pontoise, the Théâtre in Mâcon, the "Eclectiques" series at the Halle aux Grains Scène Nationale in Blois, and the Centre Culturel André Malraux in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy... It was also given at Le Prisme, Elancourt, Avignon’s winter festival (Les Hivernales), the Îles de danse festival in Paris, Vanves Theatre, Espace Gérard Philippe in Saint André des Vergers, and in the Maison de la Culture et de la Danse, Epinay sur Seine. This entirely adaptable piece for six dancers was part of the emerging “close-up” dance movement, as it was commonly called.

In January 2001, ÇA Association, subsidized by the Ministry for Culture and Communication – DRAC Île de France, became a registered choreographic company. In the autumn of the same year (October 2001), Diasnas created a cultural event in Reims city center with dancer and choreographer Valérie Lamielle, who had made, amongst other pieces, Enfance aux éclatssous les ongles This street event was called TRANSPARENCES... and it brought together 16 artists: dancers, jugglers, acrobats and puppeteers. For four days, eighteen shop windows were the scene of live performances five times a day - surprising passers-by and shoppers. The event was so successful that thanks to the support of City, Province and State, the company launched a new edition of Transparences...

Between times the company had come back to the stage with two new pieces: Les buveurs de brume(Fog Drinkers), for five dancers, and Passage éclair d'une libellule (sans aile et au ralenti) (Lightning Passage of a Dragonfly, Wingless in Slow Motion,) an aerial dance solo. Both were first performed in November 2002, during a three-year residency at the Centre Culturel André Malraux - Scène nationale de Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy. The music of both shows was by Hervé Diasnas, and was released on CD by CCAM several months later.
